In the late 1940’s, the dream of two men in Walnut Ridge was to open an Insurance and Real Estate office.
D. Leonard Lingo, a well known attorney (Ponder & Lingo, Attorneys) and Robert H. Smith, Sr., a farmer and banker, open doors of the Lawrence Insurance Agency in 1948.
Lawrence Insurance Agency, Inc. had its beginnings & shared offices with Ponder & Lingo Law Office in Walnut Ridge. Later, we moved into the First National Bank on Main Street, where it remained for many years.
As the years progressed, the second generation of family joined the agency. In 1968, Ted Coker was named the managing partner of the Insurance and Real Estate.
Third generation family member David Coker, joined the agency in 1981. Again, as the agency grew more space was needed. In 1986 we moved to our current location at 124 W. Main Street in Walnut Ridge.
In 2000 and 2005, other locations were added with the purchase of existing insurance agencies in Paragould and Pocahontas. Those names were changed to Coker Insurance. Our agents have over 160 years of combined service to the industry.
