David started his insurance career in 1981 at the Lawrence Insurance Agency in Walnut Ridge. In 2000 he purchased the Jim Watson Insurance Agency in Paragould and Singley Insurance in Pocahontas in 2003. Both names were changed to Coker Insurance. He later purchased the Lawrence Insurance Agency in Walnut Ridge from his father, Ted Coker.
David believes in strong community and industry service. He is past President of the Walnut Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce and the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Arkansas, past board member of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents and the Ozark Gateway Tourism Council, served fourteen years as an elected official on the Lawrence County Quorum Court. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company and Arkansas Farmers Union, and a director with the National Farmers Union, Walnut Ridge Planning Commission, Black River Technical College, Northeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority and Eagle Management. In 2013 Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford appointed David to the Arkansas Earthquake Authority Board of Directors. He has also served on various committees under the Arkansas Insurance Department and the City of Walnut Ridge.
David and his wife Cathy have two sons, Andrew (18) and Will (15). He enjoys watching his sons play sports, including baseball and basketball. He has coached and assisted with several Walnut Ridge Little League teams along with the Walnut Ridge Junior High Baseball team. He is also active in church serving as a deacon and Media Coordinator for the Hoxie Church of Christ.
